XP has a system information tool called Msinfo32 that can open an amazing amount of information about your entire computer system. Also known as the System Information tool, Msinfo32 is a central storage location for configuration information about your computer system. The information available includes hardware resources, components, the software environment, Internet settings, and application programs. Msinfo32 can even point out conflicts and problems such as Interrupt/Request (IRQ) conflicts, which would show up under Hardware Resources in Conflicts/Sharing. One thing that slows down Internet Explorer (IE) as it downloads a Web page is the time that it takes to load the graphics, and then redraw the test to fit around those graphics. Well, bar the door Katy, because Internet Explorer comes with a feature called Show image download placeholders. When enabled, show image download placeholders allow a Web page to display the correct format, even before the page finishes loading. This means that you'll be able to read the text while the graphics download and the placeholder prevents the text from being redrawn around the graphics, which results in a faster loading Web page.
