Email - Protect Yourself Against Phishing Emails
Traditional
Phishing Emails try to trick you into clicking on a link and filling
out an on-screen form, to that hackers and crackers can get you to
post your personal financial information. You'll be told that if you
don't fill in the requested information something bad will happen,
like your checking account or savings account will be shut down, or
money lost. Ordinarily, phishing is aimed at people that do online
banking. There is no link to click on and no attachment to open.
However, when you do open this email, it runs a script that tries to
rewrite the host files in your computer so that the next time you
try to access your online banking service, you will unknowingly be
redirected to a fraudulent Web site designed to
capture the details of your online banking login. Here's a defense
against these vicious intruders and thieves.
