If you continue to run into Internet connection problems with your Windows XP machine, then cleaning your PC's TCP/IP stack may be an easy solution. TCP and IP are but two of many communication protocols used by XP. TCP stands for Transmission Control Protocol while IP stands for Internet Protocol. There is a DOS command that you can use to rebuild the TCP/IP stack when your computer refuses to connect you to the Net. It involves using the NETSH network command shell. The good news is that you don't have to know anything more than the actual syntax used to run the NETSH command. more
XP comes pre-equipped with a feature called ClearType, which by the way is a font rendering technology that affects how type is displayed by a computer monitor. ClearType improves the readability by modifying letters on-screen, so they appear much smoother (not jagged, sketchy, or translucent), which makes the reading of computer text much easier on the eyes. Users of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) flat panel monitors will see the most noticeable difference. A context menu's Send To menu allows you to send files quickly to popular locations, but you can also customize the Send To menu by adding folders and drives to it. This comes in very handy when you frequently send files to the same location. For example, you have a folder named My Favorite Pictures where you always save your favorite downloaded pictures. Wouldn't it be convenient to be able to instantly send any picture to this folder by simply using the files Send To menu? more
